Lambert provides daily service to all major airports and many regional airports provided by American Airlines, Continental Airlines, Delta, Frontier, Northwest, Southwest, United & U.S. Airways.


A strong highway system connects cities acros the United States. Residents here are only a few miles away from cross-country interstates: I-44, I-55, I-64, & I-70, as well as I-255 & I-270, which provide a bypass loop around St. Louis County and the Metro East. From a nostalgic perspective, two of the nation's most recognized two-lane highways run through the area. Historic Route 66 runs right through downtown Edwardsville, while Route 50, the nation's only coast-to-coast two-lane highway, skirts the southern extremotoes of Madison County.

Statewide infrastructure initiatives have improved the major highways through Edwardsville & Glen Carbon. Highways 159 & 157, the main arteries in both communities, have been widened and expanded, and phase two of the cross-city thoroughfare, Governors Parkway, is complete, giving residents a quick route across town.

Madison County Transit offers award-winning bus service throughout Edwardsville & Glen Carbon, Madison County, and the St. Louis area. Buses connect riders to points within the two communities, to Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, to transportation hubs around the county and to MetroLink for access to many popular St. Louis destinations.

Metro Transit - St. Louis offers MetroBus & MetroLink light rail transportation to destinations throughout St. Louis, including Lambert - St. Louis International Airport, and a MetroLink station is only 20 minutes away.

Interstate rail travel is easily accessed through a nearby Amtrak station in Alton, IL, providing daily service to St. Louis, Chicago, Kansas City, Dallas & San Antonio.
